PORCH – People Offering Relationship, Community & Hope
At PORCH we aren’t preaching to the people as to what he or she “needs” to believe or what he or she ”needs” to do. We are meeting them and getting to know them where they are. People are looking for a place…with a grounded perspective of God and faith—but where questions are not only allowed but welcomed and celebrated…where the primary goal is not to convince everyone to think the same way but instead, to hear and share different perspectives from each person’s own journey…where everyone is invited to participate.
What does PORCH look like? Join on us on Wednesday’s for a meal and find out! Share your story and fellowship with folks over dinner, come upstairs for music, join a discussion group, book study, yoga class or art project. There is something for everyone.
Who comes to PORCH? All ages; in our first year, we had college students, young parents with kids, grandparents, working age folks, people with special needs, folks looking for support, friendship, a place to get involved, a place to belong, to ask questions and to share ideas, all in a safe environment.
Bring the whole family. There will be a staffed nursery for the little ones, children’s activities for elementary ages, and a youth group for the teens!
We will have community talks, and we will ask for YOUR ideas on how we can build better relationships, both in the community and among our own families. There will be opportunities to help others, learn new skills, and explore what faith looks like to me and to you. Come Grow With Us!

You are welcomed and loved at Peace UMC, just as you are. At Peace we understand the journey toward healthy relationships between neighbors starts with the individual. And yet a journey is better with traveling companions. We are all invited to grow as a community. Because community can be created in so many ways, PORCH is designed to bring people in the community together through a variety of small group activities and discussions. We invite you to come and experience community at the PORCH in the ways that create meaning for you and your family. Come for one portion or stay for the whole evening as you explore this new community experience. There are small groups for all ages, even a staffed nursery for the youngest of participants. Join Us as we grow in love of neighbors throughout the Quad Cities area every Wednesday night!
